The Restaurant at Neethlingshof

Polkadraai Road, Stellenbosch

Neethlingshof is one of those wine farms that has such a stately presence, and the Cape Dutch Homestead is steeped with history.

Situated on the most beautiful grounds with stunning views, I decided it would be a great restaurant to review in my food and wine blog in Cape Town.

It is an amazing venue for a wedding, has a wine tasting area as well as the Restaurant at Neethlingshof.

The Wine Tasting

Neethlingshof has a wine tasting centre and wine garden which is open 7 days a week.

Wine tastings, cellar tours, and light lunches  (pizzas, nachos and cheese & charcuterie platters are available).

They also have live music on Wednesday evenings.

The Restaurant

They have quite an extensive menu, and it was very difficult to choose between the deboned springbok shank and the pork belly Char Siu.

I opted for the Springbok and my partner chose the pork belly.  Around us there were other diners with delicious looking dishes such as a Thai green curry, an SA wagyu beef burger and the beef fillet.

My springbok shank was absolutely melt in the mouth delicious!  on the plate was harissa, charred cauliflower, sumac yoghurt, medjool date & pine nut salsa as well as pearl cous cous.  It was fabulous, and very reasonably priced at R185.00

My partner's pork belly char siu (priced at R180) contained chilli rice fritter, baby bok choi, charred onion, sesame dressing and pickled red cabbage.  This was equally as delicious.

The Experience

I've been to Neethlingshof several times over the years.  I've attended two amazing weddings there.  I've experienced wine tasting on many occasions, as well as their flash food and wine pairing.

They also add R5 to your bill (the same as Jordan Wines does) for https://www.streetsmartsa.org.za/  which helps street children.

Their wine, food and service was all good and in my experience of  food and wine blogging in Cape Town, I would highly recommend a visit to Neethlinghof.  You won't be disappointed.
