La Parada - V&A Waterfront

Alfred Mall, V&A Waterfront, 1 Dock Road Cape Town

La Parada has five outlets (four in Cape Town and one in Gauteng), however I chose to visit the V&A Waterfront one for the review of my food and wine blog in Cape Town, due to it's gorgeous location.

I always feel like a tourist in my own city when I visit the Waterfront due to the fact that there is such a great vibe there.  There is always something going on, whether it's music, dancers, mimes and more, which consequently makes it a great place for both locals and tourists alike.

We visited at lunch-time on a Friday, and luckily we had made a reservation, as it was really busy as it's such a popular spot.

The decor is stunning, everything on the menu sounded delicious, and this restaurant is showcased by magnificent views.

We decided to order an assortment from the extensive Tapas menu, and believe me - they didn't disappoint :)

Beautiful views of the V& A Waterfront from centrally situated La Parada

La Parada offers bar snacks, burgers, steaks and salads as well as a large range of Tapa's.

We started with a few bowls of Truffle Potato Crisps (very reasonably priced at R30.00 a bowl), and they were great to snack on.

Thereafter we ordered the following dishes: (pictured above)
Tuna Tataki : Seared tuna, sesame seeds, avo mousse, angel hair chilli, soy & lemongrass dressing with shaved baby carrot and coriander. This was absolutely delicious, and priced at R95.00.

Duck Croquetas: with cranberry sauce and orange segments. Super yummy and priced at R98.00.

Prawns:  Flash fried in chilli, garlic, lemon & parsley.  These were priced at R112.00 and there were plenty on the plate.

Pork Belly:  Palm sugar caramel, rainbow pineapple slaw & toasted sesame seeds.  This was R95.00 and the pork belly was melted in the mouth.

Miso Aubergine:  Deep friend misoyaki aubergine, miso corn emulsion, tomato, onion & honey cream cheese.  The aubergine dish is priced at R65.00 and really tasty

As if we hadn't ordered enough tapas, we decided to try a plate of Patatas Bravas (spiced potatoes, aioli & tomato chutney) - these were amazing and very reasonably priced at R46.00

Lastly we ordered the Cookies & Cream dessert (vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate brownie crumble, chocolate ganache, whiskey caramel & chocolate soil).  This was a wow! dessert.

The service by Nipho was excellent, and I would highly recommend you give La Parada at the V&A Waterfront a try.  In conclusion, it is not the most inexpensive restaurant to dine at, but above all - the food, experience and service were really good, therefore I really enjoyed reviewing this restaurant for my food and wine blog in Cape Town.
