THE WINE TASTING and BISTRO
As it was a lovely sunny day, we decided to sit outside on the terrace to enjoy the wine tasting.
Asara offers three tasting options:
The Speciality Range Tasting (which is 3 wines at a cost of R60.00)
The Vineyard Collection Tasting (where you get to taste 5 wines for R75.00),
and The Terroir Range Tasting (which comprises 3 tastings for R65.00)
I choose the Terroir Range as I was particularly interested in tasting their Viognier (which is one of my absolute favorite varietals). It definitely didn't disappoint, and neither did the Passione Pinotage. At R250.00 a bottle for the Viognier and R350.00 for the Pinotage, it was well worth taking a few bottles of each home with me to add to my wine collection. The Bell Tower (Bordeaux Blend) is also definitely worth a mention.
We popped in at the Sansibar Bistro for a pizza to share and a bottle of one of my go-to wines: the White Cab. This is such an easy drinking wine made with 100% cab sav grapes. White Cab is also a really affordable every day drinking wine at a mere R125.00 a bottle.
My experience at Asara was an amazing one, and I can return time and time again and never tire of the exquisite views and great service. In conclusion, I totally enjoyed reviewing it for my food and wine blog in Cape Town, and have recommended it to many people who have asked me which wine farm to visit next.
