Brenaissance Wine & Stud Farm

Devon Valley Road, Stellenbosch

Brenaissance is situated in beautiful Devon Valley in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands.  The owners are Tom & Hayley Breytenbach.  I've visited this farm on numerous occasions, therefore I was looking forward to reviewing it for my food and wine blog in Cape Town,

They offer accommodation - 2 guest suites (the Vineyard Suite and the Luxury Suite) should you wish to stay there.  There are also various function venues on the farm, ideal for weddings, conferences/work functions or private parties.

This farm offers a  selection of two wine ranges, namely the Premium Range and the Brenaissance Lifestyle Range.  The names of the wines are super cool, their Premium Range include the King Of Clubs which is their 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, the Queen of Hearts (their 2012 Merlot), the Ace of Spades which is their 2016 Blanc de Noir, and lastly - the Knight of White which is a 2014 Chardonnay.

Brenaissance's Lifestyle Range (which is really inexpensive) includes Lady H (named after Hayley, which is their 2017 Sauvignon Blanc, and Lord T (named after Tom)  is their Red Blend.  Both of these wines are very reasonably priced at R98.00 and R108.00 respectively. The Estate offers Wine Tastings every single day of the week from 11h00-16h00.

We visited on a Saturday at lunch-time, and thank goodness we made a reservation as this really popular spot was packed.  There was loads going on, including birthday party tables, baby shower tables, hen party tables, as well as normal diners.

Café Blanc De Noir at Brenaissance is informal with a very relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere, in the midst of beautiful surroundings (as you can see from my pics above).

On the menu are pizzas (including kiddie's pizza), salads and desserts.  It's a very simple menu, yet their pizzas are to die for, therefore I wouldn't want anything else there other than pizza)

We opted for the wine and pizza pairing, which is R200.00. This includes two slices of four different pizzas as well as wine perfectly paired with each flavour.

PAIRING 1:  Knight of White with Parma Ham pizza:The Knight of White Chardonnay was paired with the Parma Ham pizza.  This pizza was made up of garlic rosa tomatoes, avo, rocket, parmesan shavings & pesto olive oil.

PAIRING 2:  Lady H with Caramelised Onion pizza:Secondly we had the Lady H Sauvignon Blanc paired with the Caramelised Onion pizza which contained kalamata olives, feta, rocket and balsamic glaze.

PAIRING 3:  Queen of Hearts with Biltong pizza:Next up was the Queen of Hearts Merlot which was paired beautifully with the Biltong pizza, which sweet fig, feta, avo, rocket and balsamic glaze.

PAIRING 4:  Lord T with Cajun Chicken pizza: Lastly we enjoyed the Lord T Red Blend with Cajun Chicken pizza which was chorizo, red onion, mushrooms, rocket and chilli infused olive oil.  This pizza was my favourite by far.

The pizza bases are thin, light and crispy and should you be looking for a pizza and a glass of wine in stunning surroundings, then Brenaissance is definitely the place to visit.

In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience (as always) and reviewing it for my food and wine blog in Cape Town.
