Lanzerac Wine Estate

1 Lanzerac Road, Jonkershoek, Stellenbosch

Lanzerac Wine Estate is situated in the Jonkershoek Valley in the outskirts of the beautiful town of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape.  This stunning wine farm dates back to 1692 and is rich in both splendour and heritage.

It has been refurbished and boasts a luxury hotel, conference and function venues and a fine dining restaurant. Furthermore you will find their amazing Deli as well as the Tasting Room.  Lanzerac has so much to offer once you drive in through the oak lined driveway, therefore I was really excited to review Lanzerac for my food and wine blog in Cape Town.

An interesting fact is the Lanzerac Wine Estate produced the world's first bottled Pinotage.

Restaurants at Lanzerac include the amazing Lanzerac Deli, which offers a really casual, relaxed setting either out on the terrace or indoors for those cooler days and evenings.

There is also the Manor Kitchen where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or their Timeless Afternoon Tea experience.

Simply delicious South African cheese board and Charcuterie board

The Wine Tasting and Deli

Wine tasting is an absolute must at Lanzerac!  They have 3 options available:

Firstly they offer a Premium Tasting where you are able to select five wines from thier Premium Range which are their Pinotage Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah, Merlot, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon

Secondly they offer an amazing Wine and Chocolate experience, where they expertly pair 5 Premium wines with the most delicious artisanal chocolates.

The third option is their Heritage Tasting which is a tasting of 4 of their flagship wines including the Lanzerac MCC Blanc de Blancs Brut.

I opted for the wine and chocolate pairing which was absolutely divine!

Next we moved into the Deli where we ordered a bottle of crisp Sauvignon Blanc together with a South African cheese board.  This contained a generous selection of cheeses, apricot chutney, fig preserve, spiced nuts, grapes, crackers and the most delicious bread.

We went on to order the Charcuterie board as well, which was equally as delicious.  This comprised of cold meats, tomato confit, merlot onion marmalade (I bought a bottle for home on my way out) and freshly baked breads.

The platters were absolutely amazing, and I have returned to Lanzerac several times for these - they are THAT good!

The Experience

I have visited Lanzerac on multiple occasions and have always experienced the most wonderful service and food, and of course their wines speak for themselves.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend you visit Lanzerac Wine Estate for a wonderfully memorable experience.  I really enjoyed reviewing it for my food and wine blog in Cape Town.
