Cosecha - Noble Hill Wine Estate

Klapmuts-Simondium Road, Paarl

THE ESTATEThis amazing Wine Estate is situated on Simondium Road in Paarl in the Western Cape.
The name Cosecha is Spanish for "harvest".

Noble Hill is owned by Kristopher Tillery (who is the winemaker), and his Mom, Kathleen, who is the most friendly and welcoming hostess.  I have visited Noble Hill on several occasions, although I have never previously reviewed in for my food and wine blog in Cape Town, therefore I was delighted to do so, due to it being one of the wine estates in the Western Cape that I enjoy visiting the most.

THE WINE TASTINGMy friends and I arrived a little early for our reservation, therefore we decided to do some wine tasting in the exquisite Tasting Room before lunch.

We started with their 2017 Estate Reserve which was out of this world.  We went on to taste their Merlot as well as the Viognier (which is one of my absolute favorite varietals).

THE MENUThe menu at Cosecha is quite unique as far as Wine Farm offerings go.
It is a  Mexican / South American themed menu with something for every palate on offer.  It is not your average run of the mill menu like most wine farms offer, which makes it so special.

The day we visited was a beautiful sunny day, therefore we sat outside in order to enjoy the stunning view of the picnic lawn and tranquil pond.

Our waitron was extremely helpful in explaining what the dishes on the menu were.  Items such as flautas and taquitos were not things I was as familiar with as tacos, enchiladas and quesadillas.  We opted for the crispy chicken flautas as as starter.  This comprised three delicious corn tortillas which were filled with pulled chicken, red onion, cheddar cheese and peppers.  We also ordered the crispy pork taquito (described in the pic above) as well as THE most amazing homemade cornbread.  This was packed with cheddar and jalapenos and baked until golden brown.

We then ordered Cosecha's signature dish - fresh avocado guacamole.  The waitron arrived out our table armed with a butcher's block and THE largest avocados I've ever laid eyes on.  Freshly diced tomato, spring onions, garlic, spices galore and fresh chilis were added to a gigantic mortar and pestle, and minutes later the most delicious guacamole was produced.  This was served with large tortilla chips and was by far the highlight of the day.

THE EXPERIENCEIn conclusion, I would highly recommend you visit Cosecha Restaurant at Noble Hill for lunch as the food is wonderful and the wines are outstanding.  I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing Cosecha for my food and wine blog in Cape Town.
